Company Description
MP&CO. is a boutique agency in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada, eh!) specializing in visual design for tabletop board games. We have a holistic approach to design and work with publishers to produce captivating, immersive board games & crowdfunding campaigns.
Job Description
We’re looking for a Production Graphic Designer who gets way too excited about perfectly aligned grids, beautifully nested paragraph styles, and bulletproof file prep. This is an ongoing contractor position with the possibility of full-time employment.
If you’re the type who notices when a baseline grid is off by a hair, loves building systems that make everything run smoother, and thinks in terms of structure before style—this might be your dream gig.
Our ideal candidate is an InDesign power user who thrives on precision, consistency, and order. You’ll work closely with our lead designers to translate creative concepts into scalable, production-ready files for tabletop games, packaging, and rulebooks.
Our team is decentralized across three continents, and this position offers flexibility to work remotely or in-office. We’re a team of creative nerds who love great design, clever systems, and a well-organized file structure.
Remote or on-site options available for this position.
Successful Applicants will have
3+ years experience as a production or graphic designer.
Expert-level Adobe InDesign skills. You live and breathe styles, GREP, and data merges. If it can be automated or standardized, you’ll find a way.
Long-document experience (essential). You know how to structure, style, and maintain multi-chapter documents, indexes, and book layouts without breaking a sweat.
An excellent design eye. You bring not just technical precision but visual finesse—spacing, balance, typography, and rhythm all matter to you.
A love of systems, grids, and structure. You think like an engineer and design like an artist.
Experience in tabletop game production (cards, boards, boxes, rulebooks) or equivalent complex print projects.
Advanced knowledge of prepress, including color management, bleed setup, and PDF export standards.
Strong time management and the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
Fluent English and availability in North American time zones.
Availability: 15–30 billable hours per week.
Ability to interpret and execute from creative templates and art direction with consistency and precision.
Meticulous attention to detail—you spot missing crop marks from a mile away.
Strong time management and the ability to deliver within deadlines.
Comfort working with existing design systems and maintaining brand cohesion across components.
Fluent in English and available to collaborate within North American time zones.
Available for 15–30 billable hours per week.
Extra VP
Familiarity with crowdfunding campaign design (Kickstarter, BackerKit, Gamefound, etc.).
Experience with accessible and color-blind-friendly design.
Familiarity with Illustrator and Photoshop.
Experience with data-driven workflows or scripting in InDesign.
Experience in typesetting and book production.
What to Expect
Expand and adapt lead design concepts into full production layouts—from card decks and player boards to tiles, punchboards, and packaging—ensuring consistency, accuracy, and print readiness.
Build and maintain production systems for game components, rulebooks, and campaign materials.
Collaborate with Lead Graphic Designers to ensure every component meets design and prepress standards.
Implement and refine InDesign templates, paragraph/character styles, and GREP workflows to streamline and scale production.
Work in a creative environment where precision, structure, and beauty go hand-in-hand—and where your love of order is genuinely celebrated.
Weekly check-ins and meetings with team members where you’ll get to workshop creative ideas.
